ARCTUS Affiliates

To propel ARCTUS from the design and development phase to operational active duty, SPACEHAB has assembled a highly capable team, each recognized as the best in their contributing field. Additionally, NASA is aiding in the overall development process through their provision of data and projected requirements of the ISS for cargo transportation services as well as interface requirements for ISS visiting vehicles.

SPACEHAB, Inc.
Team Role: Program management, mission operations, payload integration, engineering and fabrication
Leading the ARCTUS effort, SPACEHAB fills several roles from overall program management to component fabrication. SPACEHAB engineers will oversee the complex task of overall spacecraft integration, payload avionics, ECLSS and payload accomodation design while looking for ways to mitigate risk. SPACEHAB will develop flight procedures, train astronauts and ground personnel and build a flight control team. Finally, SPACEHAB's world-class facilities will be used for ARCTUS final assembly, checkout and payload integration.

Astrotech Space Operations (ASO)
Team Role: Spacecraft integration, ground ops, fairing encapsulation
Astrotech facilities will support the crucial stage of final ARCTUS spacecraft integration, fueling, fairing encapsulation and checkout. SPACEHAB and Astrotech production engineers will perform final vehicle assembly, late-load (cargo) installation and testing.

United Launch Alliance (ULA)
Team Role: Launch vehicle integration/operations
A joint venture formed by the Boeing Company and the Lockheed Martin Corporation, ULA brings together two of the launch industry's most experienced and successful teams—the Lockheed Martin Atlas and Boeing Delta teams. Over the past 50 years, Atlas and Delta launch vehicles have carried more than 850 combined payloads to space ranging from weather, telecom and national security satellites.

The Lockheed Martin Corporation
Team Role: Primary structure and avionics fabrication
Lockheed Martin Corporation was formed in 1995 with the merger of two of the world's premier technology companies, Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta Corporation. Today, Lockheed employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems, products and services. The Space Systems Division, with approximately $7.9 billion in 2006 sales, includes space launch, commercial satellites, government satellites, and strategic missiles lines of business.

Cimarron Software Services, Inc.
Team Role: Control center (SHOCC) integration and ops
Cimarron has extensive mission operations control center design, construction and operation experience. Cimarron will be instrumental in setting up the SPACEHAB Operations Control Center (SHOCC) for ARCTUS.

Odyssey Space Research, Inc.
Team Role: Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) simulation and analysis, software verification, ARPO expertise
Odyssey's experience in rendezvous, proximity operations and capture (automated rendezvous and docking) makes them a valuable addition to the ARCTUS team.
